The Electric Lease Ends
The lease to The Electric ends today. Flatpack Festival have put out a brilliant thread well worth 5 minutes of your time to mark the sad occasion. We're on 19,600 signatures. Today would be a good day to re-share the petition to mark the occasion: https://www.change.org/saveoldstationstreet
There is a small vigil to mark the occasion from 6pm at The Electric tonight if you happen to be in Birmingham and want to swing by.
Mayors:
We met with one of the two leading contenders to be West Midlands Combined Authority's next Mayor over a pint on Saturday. We're meeting the second on Tuesday Morning. We can't tell you what was discussed right now, that's up to their teams to announce if they choose to as a manifesto promise. We obviously welcome that if they choose to.
Save The Electric Website:
There is a nice new website for Saving The Electric

Celebrity Support:
We have been running testimonials from some incredible people all week about the power of The Electric, The Crown and Grassroots Arts Venues. You can follow them daily on our Twitter account: https://twitter.com/OldStationSt
The first few have included the very funny Josie Long, champion of Brum Janice Connolly (BEM), the man who saved Digbeth Institute and music industry veteran John Mostyn and global Jazz and Soul superstar Ruby Turner (MBE)
The Old Rep:
As far as we know the Grade II listed The Old Rep Theatre wasn't under threat of demolition. But this blog from Birmingham Stage details how the Howard-Vyse family who own Station Street jacked up the rent last time significant lease negotiations took place and this Birmingham Live article details how BOA Stage & Screen only had extension clauses until 2024 in their contract. We'd love to know if they've negotiated a longer lease or are they worried about falling victim to the same landowner greed as The Electric seeing as they share a common denominator - The Howard-Vyse family. If you have insider knowledge then lets chat at savestationst@gmail.com
Think that is everything for now. Take care until next time.
