Stop DCP from covering the Architecture Building Atrium

Stop DCP from covering the Architecture Building Atrium
The Issue
The College of Design Construction and Planning has decided to cap the Architecture Building - despite not asking for student input, or exploring less intrusive solutions.
For two years, the college has made it clear that any discussion about a roof was hypothetical and exploratory. Yet, in the very first meeting they held, the architects told us that a roof was all but certain. We were told to discuss it later, and now they have made up their minds. We have been lied to. The student side must be taken into account.
The College does not understand what they have. They do not understand how we inhabit and work in this building. They do not understand our reality as design students. The quality of space within the studios and atrium will be irreparably altered by any overhead condition. Light, Air, Sound, and the open quality of the circulation within the building are what makes our space unique.
The ability to stand outside for sunlight on a winter afternoon; to leave your studio and look at the stars when you need a break from your project; To feel like you are outside only steps from your desk: These are what make this building important. There are other ways to keep water out.
There is still time to head this off. We are the main users of the building. Tell Dean Anumba and the College that we do not want a roof!
