Walmart is trying to buy votes on the city council again. Just a few weeks after paying for campaign mailers for Scott Mattas and Yvonne Parks, Walmart is trying to overturn the GOOD WAGE ordinance that the council just passed on Tuesday. Of course Walmart is opposed to a living wage! That's how they make their billions in profit, by paying most of their employees minimum wage, part-time with no benefits so that they can in turn qualify for welfare and get benefits paid for by taxpayers. This ordinance is the right thing for our town. It only applies to businesses that have over $4 billion in annual revenue not our small businesses. We urge you to contact City Councilmembers Betts and McKee, as well an incoming Councilmember Anayeli Zavala TODAY and urge them to support GOOD PAYING jobs and responsible economic development for DHS by voting YES on the GOOD WAGE ordinance on December 1st.
