Desert Hills Premium Outlets Cabazon, CA closure amid Coronavirus
The Issue
During this very sensitive time amid the Covid-19 Pandemic that is taking place around the world, we as employees of the Desert Hills Outlet Mall in Cabazon, CA seek to have the mall closed to coincide with the closures of major places of gathering. Doing so will continue to help mitigate the effects of the Coronavirus also known as Covid-19.
As of March 14, 2020, schools across California among other affected states, are closing till April unless stated otherwise as part of an effort to control and keep the Coronavirus from spreading. Along with closures of schools, many corporate offices are closed, theme parks and even theaters are closing. The effects of closing many destinations that we typically escape to will trigger an effect. Approximately 30 miles away in Coachella Valley, 14 people have already tested positive for Covid-19. 10 out of those 14 acquired it locally, including 1 patient who has been in isolation in a nursing home.
When you close one place of interest, people move on to feed their frenzy on another place of interest. When Disney announced that Disneyland would close for the remainder of the month, Disney fans quickly packed Disneyland to get their last Disneyland fix before it closed. As you can see, Americans aren't quick to want to help contain this pandemic. That mentality and cycle will just continue to happen unless we stop in our own tracks before it gets any worse. By keeping popular shopping establishments open such as the Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Cabazon, this will in turn have an effect to invite in crowds that may be potentially infected with the deadly Coronavirus, and thus pass that virus onto workers and many other customers.
We the employees demand action on part of the Desert Hills Premium Outlet to be part of helping the solution rather than putting us all at risk for the continued spread of this deadly virus. As someone that already has a respiratory illness with Asthma, study has shown from previous infected Coronavirus victims that had been cured from the virus, that those who were infected had weaker lung capacities. This in turn made it even more difficult for them to breathe. Some are now having to rely on breathing machines.
We hope you take this matter seriously and put people over dollars.
Sincerely,
Employees of Desert Hills Premium Outlets, Cabazon, CA
