Derry Township Community Cats (DTCC) has spayed and neutered over 600 cats in the last two years, and needs a facility in order to continue to humanely trap neuter and return (TNR) all community cats within Derry Township. This program, using 2000 volunteer hours a year, saves the Township money and personnel time that was previously spent on trapping cats and taking them to the Humane Society to be euthanized. Currently, 60% of cats being trapped have already been neutered, and have received rabies and distemper vaccines. Without a space to care for the cats while they go through the spay/neuter process, however, the program cannot continue. We ask the Board of Supervisors to help locate a space for this program to operate over the next year or two so DTCC can fulfill its mission of TNR'ing all the cats in Derry Township, and ultimate reduce that population.
