We need improvements to the Cinder Path, Tintwistle
The Cinder Path runs from New Road up to West Drive in Tintwistle, parallel to the Barratts estate. It is a very well-used short cut that saves a lot of time for pedestrians travelling between Tintwistle and Hadfield. It is a vital footpath which means people don't necessarily have to get in their cars. It is used throughout the day by commuters, schoolchildren & parents with prams, and pedestrians & cyclists.
Up until February this year (2022), the the path surface was uneven and patchy. Work has now been carried out, and the path is much improved, it is wider and flatter, and hopefully a vast improvement for pedestrians, those with wheelchairs or prams.
Stage two is to try and achieve low-level solar lighting along the route, as it is pitch black after dark, meaning it is not safe for anyone using the path, male or female, young or old. However, lighting is a very complicated process, involving planning and a large initial expense (which will be hard to find funding for). I am aware there is opposition to lighting of the path, and I would welcome the chance to speak to anyone who does not support the idea of lighting, so I can understand why they feel that way.
I am sure all of us in the village either use the path OR know people who do. Please show your support by signing this petition.
