Good evening!
There are a couple of updates regarding bike lanes on Bloor which I would like to bring to your attention.
1. The City of Mississauga will be hosting a virtual community meeting for the Bloor Street Integrated Project on Wednesday, March 9 at 6:30 PM. This project calls for protected bike lanes to be installed along the entire length from Central Parkway to the Toronto border (Etobicoke Creek), though there has been some opposition claiming the bike lanes would violate charter rights. (WTF?) Please register for the meeting to show your support.
2. To help demonstrate support for bike lanes on Bloor in Mississauga ahead of the March 9 meeting - as well as extend those in Toronto from Runnymede to Etobicoke Creek - the Toronto Community Bikeways Coalition will be hosting a ride on Sunday, March 6. Mississauga cyclists will meet 12:45 PM at Celebration Square, while Toronto cyclists will meet 1:00 PM at Runnymede and Bloor. Both parts of the ride will meet up at Etobicoke Creek. There is a Facebook event page set up for this ride which I encourage you to share with your friends and colleagues.
You can learn more about the TCBC's We Belong on Bloor campaign on their website, which I encourage you to reach out to us at community.bikeways.toronto@gmail.com if you wish to help out.
Ride safe!
Rob
