Please re-open Gooralong Park Campsite in Jarrahdale WA

CAMPERS WANT HISTORIC PARK RE-OPENED

UNHAPPY campers are calling on the State Government to re-open Gooralong Park to vehicles and campers visiting Serpentine National Park after years of neglect and petitions.
Generations of West Australians have enjoyed the recreation area near Jarrahdale WA. Though people can access the popular picnic and camping spot on foot, vehicle access closed many years ago, after which the park, its toilets, picnic tables and walk trails, was allowed to fall into disrepair. There are now signs up stating that access is not allowed into this area.

Access was not an issue while Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire managed the park with a  petition that was presented to former Environment Minister Albert Jacob in 2017 after visitors were assured by the Department of Environment and Conservation and Parks and Wildlife Service, the closure was ‘temporary’ until pine trees deemed as dangerous were removed. Unfortunately once the site got taken over by CALM/DPaW, this was ignored then the site was locked up and the keys ' went missing'

The ‘temporary closure’ has now been in force for nearly a decade. Visitors say the 'dangerous' trees are still there.

It is time to re-open this national treasure.

So please sign the petition so we can at least give it to someone who will treat this seriously and bring back a once popular camping site, so future generations can enjoy too.
