DEPLATFORM Haitian gang leader “izo” vilaj de Dye

The Issue

Izo Vilaj de Dye is the leader of the ruthless gang “5 seconds” that has terrorized Haitian neighborhoods for years. The gang engages in kidnapping, extortion, and violent crimes, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Despite efforts by law enforcement to bring Izo Vilaj de Dye and his associates to justice, the gang has continued to operate with impunity, using social media platforms to spread more violence through lyrics, make threats against citizens, recruit new members and coordinate its activities.

Recently, however, there has been a groundswell of support for deplatforming Izo Vilaj de Dye after Youtube awarded him with a Silver plaque for reaching one hundred thousand subscribers. His channel is unfortunately monetized and able to earn google AdSense - all while him and his associates are terrorizing the southern entrance to the capital. Advocates argue that allowing him to continue to use social media like Facebook, Tiktok and Instagram to promote his music only serves to enable his criminal behavior. By denying him access to these platforms, he will be unable to spread his message and organize, weakening his ability to commit more crimes.
