Arrest Aisha Yesufu Now! For Peddling Fake News.
The Issue
For as long as purveyors of fake news continue to ply their trade, our unity as a nation will continue to be under constant threat by the same peddlers of unverified information in the social media space.
This is why the arrest of Aisha Yesufu is very vital at this moment to help curb this menace and create precedence for similar unguided acts. It will also assist in making fact-checking a constant in the news delivery arena in Nigeria.
Recently, Aisha Yesufu made an allegation about a supposed attack and kidnap of the current Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in Kaduna with no verifiable fact to her claim, this is a call for the DSS to arrest Aisha Yesufu and her co-travellers in order to set a long lasting example for other fake news peddlers, as social media has proven to be an even bigger facilitator of ‘fake news’ as far as to beguiling unsuspecting members of conventional media into getting aboard the fake news wagon.
