Poverty in the Philippines nowadays is at critical state.There's a lot of people that have no choice but live in a cold open area because they have no money to afford a safe and comfortable shelter  that they need for their family. There  are about  4.5 million homeless people in the Philippines of a population of  about     106 million, according to the statistics office. About 3 million homeless are in Manila,possibly the most in any city in the world, charities estimate. Many Filipino families have no shelter and comfortable home. They live along the road, under the bridge and an open area because in this following reasons:

     Lack of money to afford a comfortable shelter. Unemployment rate in  our country goes up this past few years. It means, many of the families have no sufficient money to afford a house. This will lead a family that living in along the streets.   

     Demolition. Government demolished all the houses that is located in the    private properties, near the bodies of water and all the area that is crowded. The    giving away a free housing program to all the informal settlers that is affected by    their project. But in instances, the relocation sites of the housing projects are too far from the places that they work. So that, they rather choose to be homeless but  near  in the workplace than to have a home but there is no means of living.

     Domestic violence. One of the major reasons why there is    so  much  homeless people in this country because they experience mistreatment by their  own relatives. They were victim of harassment and abusement by the people that they love.In that case, they rather choose to leave the house and live   along   the   streets   than  to experience the pain of living with their relatives. 

      We are Filipino and we are one  family. We should   help  each  other especially those people who are most  needs  help.  The people  should  give attention and priority  for the homeless people with the help of  government and organization is the Department of Social Welfare and Development. An  additional advantage of helping people, is to improve the economy of the country for no one lives on the street and have a comfortable and good life.​
