We call upon the Local Government of Sablayan and the National Government, through the DPWH, to identify alternative strategies to pursue the road widening project without resorting to the unnecessary destruction of the acacia promenade in San Agustin.

The locals of Sablayan share the objective of National Government in the long-term prosperity of our community. We welcome the infrastructure advancements by the DPWH as a critical step towards the accelerated development of Occidental Mindoro.

However, we refuse to take the misguided path to long-term development that needlessly compromises the environmental integrity of our community.

We staunchly renounce the notion that nature must pay the price for local economic development. The public will firmly stand behind the local leadership that will continue to safeguard the natural wonders of Sablayan as we usher into a next era of economic prosperity.
