Allow the public to have a voice in the redevelopment of the Theodora Apartments!

The Issue

We cannot let the city endorse the loss of 112 units of affordable housing by granting the Master Use Permit to Goodman Real Estate. GRE's plans will eradicate our affordable housing, destroy dozens of beautiful trees, increase traffic, and produce unhealthy living conditions through construction. We need to raise our voices to ensure that the city knows Goodman Real Estate's plans will rip the social fabric of our neighborhood.

The Theodora Apartments has been home to people in need for over 100 years. Since 1965, it has been home to residents of Ravenna who are elderly, have disabilities, and are veterants. Goodman Real Estate is attempting to purchase the Theodora, build an additional building on its parking lot, and convert the whole complex to luxury housing. If GRE's plans go forward, Ravenna, and our greater Seattle community will lose 112 units of affordable housing, and we will see our seniors and folks with disabilities disbursed to the edges of the city and beyond. GRE is applying for a Master Use Permit to convert the Theodora to market rate apartments. This hearing is a way for the city to see that Seattle's residents do not stand as the wealthy get City permits to displace our long-term neighbors in order to fill their coffers - we will speak out to save that makes our communities strong!
