We are petitioning the Department of Natural Resources to stop actively seeking a buyer for the Fancher Parcel until Conservation Futures applications are reviewed.  

The Fancher parcel sits in the Northwood area, a beautiful little forest with easy access for residents. It's been a part of the neighborhood for a long time, 30 years. Little known fact is that this property is owned by DNR and they have allowed the public to recreate on the land freely for years. However, their mandate states that they must make money to fund the Common School Fund and so it is that the Fancher parcel is now for sale, likely for housing development. We have a chance to stop this sale and have the land conserved through Conservation Futures.  

Our goals are clear and outlined below.

1. Stop the process of listing The Fancher Parcel to be sold.
2. Transition The Fancher Parcel to a conservation land organization.
3. Work with the Washington Trails Association and Evergreen East Mountain Bike Alliance to manage The Fancher Parcel.
4. Connect the Fancher Parcel trail network to the robust trail system of Beacon Hill and Camp Sekani to further increase accessability.

I urge you as shareholders of these spaces to ACT NOW and help us petition against the sale of The Fancher Parcel to keep the woods in the Northwoods of Spokane
