I want justice for Fredrick & Kelvin Wheeler. The Union Springs Police Department did not have a thorough investigation.
Union Springs Police Chief Danny Jackson said some of the details are still sketchy and some of the witness’s testimony is conflicting and some of those involved have not given information about what happened during the incident. Freddy Wheeler had a verbal altercation with an individual at The Venue during the early morning hours of Sunday, January 7, 2018.
Management at The Venue followed safety precautions and forced Freddy Wheeler to leave the premises. Management at The Venue told the Herald they enforce strict security and have never had any violence on their premises. They want to continue to provide a safe location for parties and events.
Witnesses say after Freddy Wheeler left The Venue he drove north on Highway 29 and stopped at the former Spot nightclub in his white Ford Crown Victoria car and waited for a group of people to leave The Venue. Nicholas McNabb was driving a black, four door, Ford dually pickup truck with several passengers. Another vehicle, a four door Chevrolet 2500 series pickup, was following close behind the dually.
After the two pickup trucks passed Freddy Wheeler, he pulled in behind them and began following them on Highway 29 headed north. Allegedly, gunfire was exchanged as the three vehicles were traveling north on Highway 29 and again near the intersection of Hicks Industrial Park Road and Highway 29. This was about 2:30 a.m. It is believed that several people were struck with bullets in the exchange of gunfire.
The two trucks drove directly to the Bullock County Hospital Emergency Room. Minutes later Freddy Wheeler and his brother Kelvin Wheeler arrived at the emergency room. Gunfire again erupted outside the emergency room. Freddy and Kelvin hastily tried to back away from the Bullock County Hospital emergency room entrance. On Jan. 19 Fredrick passed away and his brother Kelvin Wheeler is being charged with multiple crimes. The details that are being showed above are only by one side. The police didn't feel as if the Wheeler's side was important. The other parties have not been questioned and we are asking for justice for our family.
