We're continuing to push for an independent federal investigation into Tamir's death. Thank you for signing and standing with us.
I wanted to share with you this article from one year ago, shortly after Tamir died, that shows how corrupt things are in Cleveland: http://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/index.ssf/2015/01/cleveland_fiscal_manager_resig.html
After Tamir was killed, the fiscal manager for Cleveland's Public Safety Department resigned, stating that he has lost his faith in the mayor and department. In his resignation letter he wrote:
"These events show a pattern of management that is lacking the required employee oversight, fails to provide the proper employee training, and management that is not being held accountable for the actions that take place within the Department of Public Safety. The Department of Justice
report released December 2014 sited years of insufficient accountability, inadequate training and ineffective policies within the Cleveland Police Department. These management and leadership issues ended with a child paying the ultimate price."
Though it's been over a year, little has changed in Cleveland and that's why we need the U.S. Department of Justice to take action and help us find some justice for Tamir.
I'll be continuing to let you know how you can help.
Thanks!
LaTonya
