Limited Available Visa Appointments at The US Embassies Have Caused Serious Troubles!

The Issue

This petition is arranged for:

- Numerous Iranian people, who are living in United States, and are working and serving Americans with love. Yet they are obliged to not seeing their immediate families due to limited available visa interview appointments and B visa interview appointment cancellations.

- The Green Card lottery winners, who are losing their chance only because they are not able to receive an interview appointment.

- The Iranian students who are having a hard time about losing their admissions and funding from the school for Fall semester 2021, only because there are no available visa interview appointments at the US embassies.

- The Iranian residents who have families in the United States and have not met them for many years first due to the Travel Ban and then due to the Covid, and now due to the limited available appointments at the US embassies.

Since there are no US embassies in Iran, Iranian residents are facing difficulties with making a visa appointments in other neighborhood countries. Specially during the past year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and cancellation of routine visa services made it even harder.

The only embassies that provide Farsi language services are the US embassies in Yerevan, Ankara and Dubai. However, although the vaccine is out, and the US employees at the US embassies are vaccinated, these embassies don’t provide enough available appointments for students, Green Card lottery winners and even those people who have life threatening emergency, and have to travel immediately.

The US embassy in Ankara is no longer provide services for Iranian residents due to the Covid!

The US embassy in Dubai has canceled all the tourist visa appointments and doesn’t approve any expedite requests, even for life threatening emergency cases. In addition for students, they have available appointments for 2022, and don’t accept expedite requests for Fall 2021 semester! Therefore, students are not able to meet the deadlines for the Fall semester 2021.

The US embassy in Yerevan, canceled all the tourist visa appointments this summer. They only approved expedite requests for students, yet the expedited appointments are too late and not appropriate for the Fall 2021 semester.

What is concerning is that until now, a large number of applicants have lost their opportunities, school admissions and Green Card lottery due to no available visa interview appointments.

This situation have made a very hard time and frustrations for Iranian nationality inside and outside of the United States.

We respectfully urge all relevant departments and services kindly take our concern into consideration and lift the limitations at the US embassies in Yerevan, Dubai and Ankara for Iranian residents.

We understand and respect the importance of taking into consideration the national interests of the United States.

We appreciate your time and concern.
