There are 78 Australians, including my parents Beverley and Wayne, stranded on the Coral Princess cruise ship. Currently there are no arrangements to get Australian Coral Princess passengers’ home.

Their 14 night cruise sailed from Santiago, Chile on 5 March and was supposed to finish at Buenos Aires, Argentina on 19 March. However, last minute border closures prevented them from disembarking. Since then the Australian passengers have been moved between many ports and attempted, but subsequently failed, to disembark due to port closures. Many have purchased additional flights and are out of pocket. The latest status is they’re in transit over 14 days to Fort Lauderdale, United States (US) and will arrive between 4 – 6 April 2020. Now, only a few days away.

On 30 March, Princess Cruises said they would organise and pay for flights home. They are working with Australia’s Ambassador to the US and DFAT but no arrangements are made.

Our aim is to ensure the 78 Aussies trapped on the Coral Princess get home safely. Given they are in the more vulnerable age groups, it is imperative to minimise their COVID-19 exposure, which means that Princess Cruises ensures:

1. Their entry into Fort Lauderdale, US

2. The earliest and most direct flights from the US where this virus is spreading so quickly

3. Where possible, keeping our Aussies together

In summary, to protect their safety, Aussie passengers on board the Coral Princess need to come home quickly and directly. Therefore, this can only be achieved with the support of our amazing family and friends! Thank you!
