CLAW: Care, Love and Appreciate Wildlife
The Issue
The Philippines is home to almost a hundred species in the planet. The country has a large number of biodiversity but it is also home to a large number of endangered species we might not even be aware off.
As of now thousands of species had gone extinct and endangered. One of the talked and known about critically endangered species is the Philippine Eagle whereas it has been added to the list in 1988 in the threat of extinction and later moved up to the list of critically endangered in the 1990’s and up till now. Estimates point that only 180 Philippine Eagles are left in the wild and the number continues to decline every year.
We should promote biodiversity because it is essential for a healthy and functional ecosystem. A biodiversity is a variety and variability of life on Earth. When the wildlife is removed from its natural habitat, the delicate balance of the ecosystem will be disturbed which will then lead to disastrous results.
By saving our wildlife we also are saving our environment. Every year there had been becoming less and less natural wildlife habitat to remain on earth. Destruction, fragmentation, pollution and degradation of habitat puts the survival of wild animals in danger and also destroying our natural environment.
Animals are beneficial in the human race in the medical field. Several researchers had found out that the chemicals and even venom from the animals are being formed into medicines which can actually help cure various health conditions such as heart diseases, disorders, and other illnesses. Other examples are bee stings, puffer fish toxin and the pit viper can cure the symptoms of Melanoma. Even venom from tarantulas can help fight neurological orders as researches have said.
Terminating the act of killing and eating several wild animals will prevent such life threatening viruses to arouse and spread just like what happened with COVID-19 which came from bats. It is in the news that just like in Wuhan China, Filipinos also catch bats and sell it as bat soup without proper knowledge.
By signing this petition it gives a big help to give awareness with the wildlife concerns that is happening around the world. And we still owe future generations to be able to see and enjoy what we have seen.
Animals have the same right as humans to live free from pain. By protecting them we also are protecting our environment and ourselves.
