Reduce standard number of units (36) in Senior High School to 27 units
The K to 12 has implemented a standard number of 36 units in Senior High School and this is already far heavier of what is said to be "full load" in College which is 21 units.
Because of this, many students are spending most of their time to cope up with their studies and academic requirements than to rest, to enjoy or/ and to be with family and love ones. Apart from spending 36 hours per week, students also use their extra time to study quizzes, making their projects or performance tasks and other school related activities or extracurricular activities.
Having core subjects, applied subjects and specialized subjects, each of which are 4 units, plus other subjects and activities, the burden of school works have made a lot of K to 12 learners to be stressed, causing others to suffer from depression and anxiety. Many Grade 11 and Grade 12 students have committed suicide due to the burden of school works and failing grades. Recently, a DepEd teacher also committed suicide.
We are creating a petition to reduce the 36 units to at least 27 units, in which the 9 subjects to 3 units each so that the young K to 12 learners can have more time to themselves and also enjoy their youth, while preparing for college.
BENEFITS:
-Will lessen the school works/ requirements
-Will have more time to focus on each subject
-Not limited rests and time for family
-Time for yourself
-To have lighter schedules
