I have my attendance affected in school due to missing out on school to observe my religious festival, Eid. And I know I am not alone in this. 

Many students from religious backgrounds experience penalties when they miss out on or take school leave for religious festivals. It is not a legal requirement for schools to authorise leave for these important days in the UK. Due to this, students have to call in sick or use excuses to observe their own religion; others come into school in fear of trouble and miss out on their holy day. While some schools are working towards being more understanding, some is not enough. 

This petition is aiming to change our education system. To make it more diverse, compassionate and secure for all students. Students should be able to partake in religious holidays without the fear of penalties.
