Anti-racism curriculums should be compulsory in UK schools!

The Issue

Let's be honest, the black Instagram square did nothing. You need to be educating yourself on the importance of black culture! Future generations should be protected yet educated on the ignorance of racism and maintain ways to tackle forms of discrimination in order to decrease the number of racist events happening currently and in the future.

Teachers should have the duty to be trained on the dangers of racism and should successfully inform students on the full history of black culture, including black historical figures who have impacted our lives on a daily basis, for example, the invention of the 3 light traffic system in 1923 by Garrett Morgan or Harriet Tubman, a nurse and a huge supporter of women's suffrage during the Civil War. Especially recent events such as George Floyd and Belly Mujinga need to be taught! Students need to know how we have the things we use today and these curriculums are a great resource to use.

Finally, last year there were over 4,590 cases of racial abuse recorded in UK schools. THIS IS A MASSIVE ISSUE WHICH NEEDS TO BE SOLVED. I cannot emphasise more on how important it is for children not to discriminate others by their race, we bleed the same blood. Racism is not born it is taught. And this is why I urge you to sign this petition to protect our future students.
