A Vending Machine For Your Personal Hygiene

A Vending Machine For Your Personal Hygiene
The Issue
As we go through each day, it is a must that a person does cleansing activities that will help himself to stay neat and clean. This is why hygiene is given importance. General hygiene is defined as being clean to protect oneself and others from diseases. It is an act of cleanliness of the external body. Personal hygiene is essential to both genders but females have a little more on their plates. According to Jennifer Nelson, a writer at Your Total Health , almost all of the women wear make up regularly, which requires special attention because of skim sensitivity. There should be attentiveness when choosing which products one should apply to the face. There are a lot more normal situations where women have to exert more effort to stay clean. As women, we experience a menstrual cycle that ideally, should happen every month and last for a week. This requires more attention as it is not only an external concern but it may affect internal systems when proper hygiene is not observed.
There are several practices that enable proper hygiene. One is the use of feminine wash daily. According to Dr. Greg Alvior, an Ob-Gyne and president of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Medical Foundation, Not all formulations of feminine wash are the same, some are much stronger than others in killing bacteria. Dr. Alvior states, “Some [types] are strong antiseptics, and so could cause a super infection with resistant-fungi and bacteria if used too often and too long.” In the case of a super infection, the resistant fungi and bacteria don't respond to conventional medical treatment, making it that much more difficult to manage and prevent from spreading throughout the vaginal area. This is one of the practices women do in terms of taking care of their private parts. During the menstrual period, women use pads and liners. It is very important to us women to change our sanitary napkin or panty liner to prevent the growth of bacteria that can cause UTI and vaginal infections. Ideally, a woman should change her pad every 3-4 hours to prevent bad odor, overflowing, and promotes good hygiene in general. The problem is, there are times in which a pad is not always available.
There are instances in which a woman does not have enough pads to get through the day. Maybe the woman has an irregular cycle which her period came off as a surprise. Or the flow is too heavy which the woman needs to change more often. The availability of pads and liners at a school setting isn’t that well. In our school, the bookstore doesn’t always sell pads and our classmates don’t always have pads to spare. The use of pads is essential to us women and as students, we would like to have an alternative way of attaining our necessities in case of an emergency. Because of how we are an all girls school, these instances do happen often. Which is why we would like to have a few vending machines in our vicinity for us to have a more convenient way to provide for our needs in times of emergency situations. The said vending machines would contain pads, liners, wipes, and tissues. We believe that in this way, it would be much easier to practice proper hygiene and sanitation because the necessities are readily available. Of course, we would like this project to not only be supported in our school but also in other schools as well. We are asking for your help to assist us in promoting proper personal hygiene and expressing the importance of taking care of oneself.
