Problem
There are no hamsters in New Zealand as most people know!
I think this is incredibly sad as hamsters can be great pets!
They are also very inexpensive compared to a dog or a cat.
So why aren't we allowed hamsters? We are allowed pet mice and rats, hamsters are pretty much the same. Hamsters breed fast yes... but so do mice and rats and we are allowed those! So why are we not allowed hamsters?
Hamsters are great pets for kids, as they help them learn about animals without the big commitment of a dog or a cat.
They are also great for stressed adults, as they can help with mental issues and depression.


Solution
We can solve this problem of no hamsters in New Zealand by, reaching out to the department of conservation, and telling them that hamsters are no real threat, and that they make great pets, and if they were released into the wild they would be swooped up by a predator in a matter of seconds! Hamsters are pretty easy prey for these animals as well to maybe if they were in the wild, it would stop the predators preying on birds!
