Recently, there has been a sickening use of motor vehicles in terror attacks. 

Arguably the most efficient and readily available weapon in our society what many people do not realise is that those who adopt the motor vehicle as their weapon of choice will, after serving any custodial period for their attack, become equally entitled to return to our road network.

Such people will be free once more to legally drive amongst you and those you love, after at the very most, passing an extended driving test in cases where the courts have actually issued a driving ban.  This is unacceptable.  Life should not be so cheap.

Some may argue an individual will not be put off by the thought of losing a licence, if they even hold one, however that should not mean we simply let such people return to the roads when they have demonstrated they are a liability.

We shouldn't scrap tax laws as people are prepared to take the risk of getting caught.  We shouldn't legalise heroin as loads of people use it.  We shouldn't permit child pornography as paedophiles will always find it somewhere anyway.

We wouldn't grant them a firearms licence, let them teach our children or give them any other great responsibilty so why would we smile and re-issue a driving licence? 

The recent attack of innocent people from all over the world on Westminster Bridge in London using a van was despicable and cowardly.  Incredibly, had the attacker not been shot he would, in time, have been eligible to get back behind the wheel.  This aspect of the attack will frequently fall into the shade, as the knife aspect of the killing took centre stage. 

If you agree such terrorists should not be legally entitled to join you, your family and those you love on our already congested roads once they have served any custodial period please show your contempt for such people by signing and sharing this petition. We need to insist the courts are empowered to permanently revoke such privilige where the prosecution can show the attacker is not fit to be amongst us on the roads.

At the very least government owes all of us an explanation as to why they even perceive such people are ever fit to drive again.  It is not ok and this must change with immediate effect.  Thank you.
