HD is an inherited brain disease for which there is no cure. Classed as ‘rare’, the lack of informed medical knowledge about HD can lead to misunderstanding of its likely progression. Those diagnosed currently have a life expectancy of below 20 years from symptom onset.

This condition is unfamiliar to the public and some areas of health care. This provides a lack of understanding towards patients when admitted into general hospitals or social situations. This causes stress on the patient and the family. 

Due to this condition having no cure, it is a terminal illness which will take their life! inorder to support these people funding is required. however when they apply for personal independence payments they do not receive the funding for being terminally ill. This is due to being unable to diagnose the time span of the condition. 

To be eligible for the terminal illness funding a doctor needs to provide evidence they will have less than 6 months to live. This is unjust for conditions with immeasurable life expectancy. This condition impacts them everyday and in every aspect of life.

This petition is to make people aware and understand this condition. And try and change the rules for receiving terminal illness payments. This will enhance their life by providing specialist care and understanding towards their condition. 

Also there needs to be promotion of the condtion in health care, univeristy, schools and socail media.
