The A417 Missing Link is an infrastructure project in Gloucestershire. There is a safety and traffic issue on the existing A417 between the Cowley roundabout and the Air Balloon roundabout which needs a solution. National Highways have proposed Option 30 which is an environmentally destructive new road that will decimate local ecology, ancient woodland and productive farmland within the Cotswold AONB. There are other, better solutions. Option 12 is a less damaging solution to the local landscape, local communities and the broader environment. Option 30 was decided upon prior to the changed times that we now live in. Never has the preservation of our fragile environment been more critical. We need to reconsider the mission. Times have changed, communities have changed, society has changed and Option 30 is an old answer to a new and changed world.
