The UK countryside is absolutely crammed with barbed wire fences wherever you look, along footpaths and bridleways, around livestock and horse fields and there's more of it going up all the time.

When is falls down it is often just left in a bundle or laying on the ground which acts as a trap for wildlife who end up horrendously maimed or worse.

Barbed wire is pointless, it doesn't stop animals from entering an area it just rips them open or catches them up, causing the most hideous injuries and often death, especially long, slow, agonising deaths of wildlife.

It is unlikely there is a dog owner in the countryside whose pet hasn't had a barbed wire injury at some point, gun dogs suffer terribly. Lately I've seen some truly horrific injuries. Same with horses.

Let's raise awareness to stop the lazy and routine use of this cruel and senseless stuff.
