Vocational courses are still suffering due to calculated exam grades for units that the students didn't get to complete or sit. I want the Department of Education / OfQual to give those students who are doing / have done BTEC and Level 3 courses their teacher / center assessed grades, rather than using the exam board calculated grades, which are woefully inaccurate.

BTEC only asked marks for internal units, this then allowed them to calculate all grades for externally marked units and exams. This has lead to a huge discrepancy in what students achieved. Students who achieve Distinctions in all work suddenly getting a Pass, because that what the algorithm says, a student who gets Merits being pushed down to a fail, all because of the algorithm. 

As a teacher, I was only ever asked for the internally marked units and was never asked for what I believed the students would get for their externally marked coursework. These grades were seemingly pulled out of thin air and have disadvantaged the students. 

Vocational courses such as BTEC and CTEC need to be included with A-Levels and GCSEs to have center / teacher assessed grades, as these grades calculated by the exam boards algorithm can't be trusted and are not a true reflection of the students studying these courses.
