Private school teachers in the Philippines are one of the vulnerable sectors during these trying times because:

1. Not all private schools (especially the small ones) have financial aid for their teachers;

2. Most private teachers are under “no work, no pay” scheme;

3. Private teachers are not included in the list of SAP beneficiaries;

4. A company or private institution categorized as a top taxpayer doesn’t necessarily mean good financial standing for its employees;

5. Household expenses are still present (e.g. bills, rent).

With these aforementioned reasons, I humbly ask everyone who is reading this to help me and my fellow private teachers in making our voices be heard by the various executive departments of the Philippine Government. It is within our knowledge that DepEd has been doing its best to address this but it is not DepEd alone whom shall exert effort on this. As we battle against this pandemic, we hope that each voice who needs help will be heard.
