The Issue
We beg the Kanabec County Attorney Barbara McFadden, Kanabec County Attorney’s Office and Judge Jacob Fischman to COMPLETELY REJECT ANY PLEA BARGAIN, REDUCTION OF CHARGES, OR LENIENT SENTENCING in the case of Moriah Shaleen Krondak. Plea deal hearing is set for November 2, 2026.
Moriah Krondak opened her doors under the business name Done Right Dogs, promising families, rescues, and vulnerable pet owners that their beloved animals would be safe, cared for, and trained. Instead, behind those closed doors, she subjected dozens of helpless dogs to unimaginable horror.
Ten dogs died agonizing deaths, left to slowly starve to death, covered in their own urine and feces inside small, dark crates. Six other dogs, who fortunately lived, suffered the same abuse but were left with physical, emotional and behavioral scars.
To grant a plea deal in this case would be an insult to the innocent lives lost, a punishment to the families of these victims and a devastating betrayal of public justice. We plead with you: DO NOT let her walk away from full accountability.
THE UNIMAGINABLE HORROR SHE INFLICTED
This was not an unfortunate accident, nor was it a brief moment of oversight. This was prolonged, systematic cruelty and deliberate torture that occurred over the course of up to a year. The agonizing deaths of some of these animals and the cries they let out happened while Moriah Krondak slept in the adjacent room:
Slow, Painful Starvation: Veterinary experts confirmed that these animals endured weeks—and in some cases, months—of agony, denied even basic food and water. Their bodies slowly broke down as they starved in silence, trapped in their own filth. One dog was found decapitated.
Left to Decompose in Crates: Investigators uncovered scene after scene of horrific neglect—nine dead dogs (one owner had claimed a dead dog before the rest of the bodies were discovered), some left decomposing in kennels for months alongside living animals who were forced to watch and suffer the same fate.
Severe Suffering of Survivors: The dogs rescued alive were found severely emaciated, covered in waste, with visible bones, neck injuries, and broken teeth from desperate attempts to chew their way out of their cages or fight for survival.
Betrayal of Trust: Loving owners and dedicated rescue organizations handed over healthy, trusting animals. They trusted Ms. Krondak to protect them. Instead, she watched them starve.
Starvation is one of the most cruel, agonizing ways for a living creature to die. The terror, weakness, and pain these animals felt every single day while waiting for help that never came is horrific beyond words.
OUR RESPECTFUL AND URGENT DEMANDS
A plea bargain that drops 9 felony counts and 6 gross misdemeanor counts or guarantees probation would send a terrifying message: that animal torture and starvation carry little to no consequence in our legal system.
We desperately ask that you stand as the voice for these defenseless animals and uphold the full weight of the law:
Reject Any Plea Deal: Require this case to go to trial, or accept only a guilty plea to the full extent of the 16 original counts, including all felony animal torture charges.
Impose Maximum Prison Time: Seek and enforce the maximum allowable statutory prison sentence for every single count of cruelty and torture.
Enforce a Lifetime Prohibition: Guarantee that Ms. Krondak is permanently banned from ever owning, housing, boarding, training, or working with any animal for the rest of her life.
The innocent souls who starved to death in those crates cannot speak for themselves. Their pain demands justice. We plead with you to show the public, the victims' families, and future offenders that this level of cruelty will be met with the absolute maximum severity of the law.
It's crucial that our legal system reflects the serious nature of these crimes.
