We believe that releasing this individual, Paul Bryans, would present an unacceptable risk to the safety and well-being of the victim, their family, as well as other children and the community.  This is a possible danger to most of Massachusetts, all the way from Plymouth to Berkshire county.  The nature and severity of the offenses, the lasting harm caused to the victim and the victim's family, and the need to protect potential future victims must be given the highest consideration when evaluating any request for release.

A prison sentence should not be treated merely as a period of time to be completed. In cases involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of a child, the consequences can be lifelong. The victim and family may continue to live with the physical, emotional, and psychological consequences long after the offender's conviction. The offender is not safe to be released not only because of his previous crimes but his verbal statements of desire to harm the victim and family. In our opinion, he has no emotional capability to feel remorse, or ability to be rehabilitated without reoffending or resorting to violence. The offender has given reason to believe they are unstable, vengeful, a known flight risk and likely to reoffend.

We believe that public safety must take precedence over the offender's desire for release. We therefore respectfully request that the Parole Board deny parole and keep the child predator and abuser incarcerated for the maximum period permitted by law.

We ask the Board to remember that behind the conviction is a child whose life was profoundly affected by these actions. Protecting that child, protecting other children, and protecting the community should remain paramount. For these reasons, we respectfully ask that parole be denied.

Please sign this petition before the last week of September to keep the abused safe and without any further emotional stress. Please don't let this child be retraumatized by an early release before he is prepared.
