keep a non profit boxing organization open to help kids stay off the streets and safe.
The Issue
Quintana Boxing also known as Sloan’s Lake Boxing has been a non profit organization that has been open since 1988. This organization is for kids whom have a passion for the sport, not only has this been a place for individuals to learn the sport but this has helped troubled kids go down the right path in life as we have built character, respect and discipline with the individuals we work with. A numerous amount of individuals from ages 8 and above have walked through these doors facing many battles that may have caused trouble, or heart filled pain in their lives, such as addiction, death, and juveniles and adults whom were caught up in the wrong scene, and they have left with a better head on their shoulders and a better outlook on life. This boxing gym has impacted a numerous amount of individuals over the years and some may even say it’s saved their lives. It is very disheartening that the Denver Parks and Recreations would want to take this facility away from the young and dedicated individuals, whom have dedicated their time and whom have showed an outrages amount of love for not only the sport but for those of us whom help them. Many would even say this is a second home to them.
