With the imminent danger of Coronavirus (COVID-19) being brought to our Denton schools after the return of students, teachers, and staff from spring break, it would be in the best interest of Denton ISD to close campuses for at least two weeks (the virus incubation period) after the break to avoid the possible spread of the virus.

Denton ISD cannot inhibit its members to travel to areas where the virus has been spreading, nor can the ISD enforce to self-quarantine for those who might have been in contact with people or areas carrying the virus. 

Keeping students and teachers off school two weeks after the break enables them to self-quarantine and watch for symptoms without being penalized. Additionally, those who show late symptoms will be prevented from spreading the virus to peers, faculty, and staff. 

Other school districts and colleges in the Metroplex have decided to close temporarily to reduce the likelyhood of spreading the virus. This is a preventive measure that will report a greater benefit for our community, protecting Denton ISD families and employees. Be a leader!
