From news clips to recommendations by local, state and national leaders, we have been encouraged to get into our dentist for routine dental care.

Our hesitation is met with reassurance by dental office's, county health officers, California and American Dental Association.... "No cases of Covid19 have been linked to the dental industry" largely because it is not being tracked or reported at the county, state or national level, to confirm, call your local or state HHS office and ask what the current data is.  ADA informs member dentist's they are absolved from reporting employee related harm unless it results in death, loss of a limb or eye. There is no requirement to report patient's that test positive after dental visits.

While other small business and religious organizations have been shuttered and publicly chastened for their contribution to spreading Covid19, dental practice owners are seemingly untouchable without operating mandates or linked cases. How is that possible when even our well equipped hospitals have reported cases? A letter from the ADA to HHS acknowledged "very high exposure risk" to dental staff and patients yet the ADA advocated for the exclusion of required Covid19 case reporting in practices with 10 or less employees. Per the California Dental Association, that accounts for 80%, why?

There is a clear conflict of interest, lack of oversight, lack of enforcement controls in dentistry, that has become irresponsible in the move towards economic recovery.  Please considering signing this petition to advocate for accountability of impact, transparency of patient and employee risk, transmission information from all local, state and national agencies/associations that influence policy.
