Support Shelter, Not Slaughter

Support Shelter, Not Slaughter
The Issue
Costco refuses to donate to animal shelters, but was happy to donate more than $3,000 worth of product to the Bacon Festival of America. Tell Costco you support life, not death. Ask Costco to make a $6,000 donation to the Humane Society of the US, and refrain from supporting the Bacon Festival in the future.
*****
Recently, Costco broke just about every policy they have on corporate donations to give a quarter of a literal ton of bacon to the Bacon Festival of America. If they can disregard the rules to donate to a bacon festival, they can disregard the rules to donate to support animal welfare and the humane treatment of pets and livestock.
---
From the Bacon Festival of America Facebook page, 7/2/2014:
"Someone just donated 500 pounds of bacon. Starts with the letter "C" and rhymes with ostco."
---
At current market value, a pound of bacon is worth just over $6. That puts the value of Costco's donation to the Bacon Festival at over $3,000. Yet, the Bacon Festival is a one-day event in a small corner of the Bay Area. Animal welfare is an issue across the nation and around the globe. For that reason, we would like to ask Costco to double that donation, and give $6,000 to the Humane Society of the United States, the nation's largest animal protection organization.
Tell Costco to do the right thing. Tell Costco to support Shelter, not Slaughter.
