1. Havildar Ramesh Yadav was returning to his unit by train, after availing leave and the train derailed. The NCO suffered head injuries which incapacitated him, resulting in his being medically boarded out of the Army without disability pension. With no other source of income, his family now has to support him from his service pension, for his treatment and mobility besides the education of his three children. Despite a favourable ruling by AFT in 2017, MOD has not yet approved his disability pension.                                  2. There are thousands of such cases where the courts have ruled in favor of veterans and granted disability pension, but the Ministry of Defense's (MOD) new policy driven by MOD Finance and JAG Army, threatens to undermine rights of veterans by filing hundreds of appeals in High Courts and Supreme Court. This policy denies disability pensions for veterans, disregarding veterans sacrifices and service to our nation. Disability pension is however available to civilian government officials who have much softer environmental conditions. 
3. MOD's new policy is not just an attack on us; It affects the veterans' families too, who now need additional financial support, to look after their disabled husbands. They have stood by us through thick and thin, and they deserve better than this. Aged Veterans from rural areas will now have to visit High courts to fight these cases besides additional expenditure both by veterans and MOD. This is contrary to the Prime Minister's directions to MOD, of 2019, to reduce litigation.

4. We are calling upon you to stand with veterans against this unjust policy change. We ask that you sign this petition demanding that the MOD reconsider their decision and uphold their commitment to supporting veterans who are living with disabilities post-service.
