The Issue

For the last two years, Christopher Cordova, a YouTuber who goes by the name Denver Metro Audits, has abused his platform to promote and profit from illegal activity. Mr. Cordova is what he and several others call themselves "First Amendment Auditors" who falsely represent themselves as activists and journalists to exploit the first amendment and social media platforms in order to glorify and encourage actions that often cross legal and ethical boundaries.

While the First Amendment protects the right to free speech and expression, it does not provide a blanket endorsement for actions that deliberately infringe upon the law and disrupt public order. Individuals like Cordova engage in behaviors that involve trespassing, harassment, and other forms of public disturbance, all while recording their interactions and uploading them to YouTube for profit.

On November 10, 2022 Mr. Cordova was arrested at the SSA office in Littleton, Colorado and charged with failure to comply with official signs and lawful directions (in violation of 41 C.F.R. § 102.74-385) and unlawful photography (in violation of 41 C.F.R. § 102.74-420). On March 20, 2023, Christopher Cordova was found guilty on both counts in The United States District Court for the District of Colorado.

In the SENTENCING STATEMENT submitted July 7, 2023, The Prosecution explains in detail how Mr. Cordova profited from his crimes. Mr. Cordova Live streamed the incident that lead to his arrest on his YouTube Channel, Cordova then posted summary videos, shorts, and additional livestreams to recap his arrest and request money from his viewers. For his criminal actions, Cordova was able to collect over $11,000.00 in donations, memberships and advertisement revenue.

By promoting these activities and generating revenue through monetization, Channels Like Cordova's effectively profit from sensationalizing confrontations with law enforcement, security personnel, and other public servants. Such content not only puts these professionals at risk but also contributes to a toxic online culture that glorifies disobedience and undermines the rule of law.

In light of these concerns, We request that YouTube's Administration and Policy Team consider reviewing Christopher Cordova's Channel "Denver Metro Audits" and evaluate whether he violates YouTube's Community Guidelines, which prohibit content that promotes harmful or dangerous activities.

We believe that demonetizing these channels would send a strong message against the promotion of criminal behavior and the exploitation of YouTube's platform for personal gain and would reaffirm YouTube's commitment to fostering a safe and responsible online environment for both content creators and viewers.
