Change the Civil Union Act to ensure equality in South Africa

Change the Civil Union Act to ensure equality in South Africa
The Issue
Section 6 of the Civil Union Act allows marriage officers employed by the state to refuse to solemnise civil unions if they personally object to same-sex relationships on the grounds of their “conscience, religion [or] belief”.
This has long been identified by LGBTQ activists as an unconstitutional and discriminatory flaw in the law that legalised same-sex marriage in South Africa in 2006.
The Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs has supported the amendment to the Civil Union Act. Before this can happen the National Assembly will be required to vote on the amendment to the bill.
Show your support for the amendment, and sign the petition in support of the change. The DA will take the vote of support with us to parliament and pressure members of parliament to vote for equality
