Montgomery County recently received a minor snow storm that dropped roughly 6-7 inches of snow county wide.  School was understandably cancelled for Monday and Tuesday.  On Tuesday afternoon a cancellation for Wednesday was announced to the shock of almost all parents.  The MCPS twitter page cited "cold weather and snow levels" impacting their ability to clear school parking lots and walkways.  This is unacceptable.  MCPS accounts for nearly half of Montgomery County's $7 billion dollar operating budget.  How is it possible that a school system in one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, with a $3 billion dollar plus operating budget, is unable to clear 6 inches of snow from its facilities in 2 days.

This cancellation has caused families to scramble to find child care and in other circumstances caused parents to lose wages due to needing to take off to care of children in this unforeseen situation. 

This petition is calling for the resignation of the MCPS Superintendent Thomas W Taylor for the school systems poor handing of this minor weather event.
