The Issue

RATH (Residents Against Terrible Housing) is demanding immediate action on 1392 Westover Rd. in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. This lot needs to be cleared out or a house needs to be built. With the grass cut only every once in a while, it's a breeding ground for mice, rats and other animals. The Westover/Blackmore neighbors are sick of looking at it and deserve better. This lot is owned by someone who isn't up to date on his property taxes and most likely does not have the financial means to conduct a timely, proper build on this lot.

The City's process to handle vacant and neglected houses/lots is way too slow. We're looking to accelerate it while still giving homeowners a proper amount of time to resolve violations.

The problem is the City can take years to address vacant and neglected homes while they prioritize POS inspections. Housing has NOT been a priority for the City and we are demanding that it is.

We're no longer waiting and we're certainly not asking.

Signing this petition is one way to not just support immediate action on this house, but every other house that is a blight on our beautiful city.
