DEMANDING BETTER POLICING, ACCOUNTABILITY & LAW ENFORCEMENT FROM SAPS ENNERDALE

We demand a safer community and a police service that listens, responds and acts.

We, the residents of Ennerdale and surrounding communities, are calling on SAPS Ennerdale to improve policing services and strengthen its relationship with the community.

Residents have raised serious concerns about reported crimes and community safety matters that are allegedly not receiving sufficient attention, follow-up or feedback. Community members need to know that when they report a crime, their complaint will be taken seriously and that they will receive appropriate feedback on the progress of their case.

WE ARE DEMANDING:

1. Proper and professional service delivery
Residents must receive respectful, responsive and effective policing services.

2. Proper investigation of reported crimes
Reported criminal activities must be properly assessed, investigated and followed up.

3. Feedback to complainants
Residents must receive appropriate updates regarding their cases and complaints.

4. Increased police visibility
We call for stronger patrols and crime-prevention operations in identified crime hotspots.

5. Continued lawful immigration enforcement
We call on SAPS, together with the relevant authorities, to continue lawful immigration operations and documentation checks where required by law.

6. Action against criminal and unlawful activities
We demand stronger action against drug dealing, illegal firearms, robbery, theft, illegal businesses, unlicensed establishments and other activities that threaten our communities.

7. Community engagement
SAPS Ennerdale must regularly engage with the community, CPF and recognised community structures regarding safety concerns and policing priorities.

8. Accountability
There must be a clear mechanism for residents to raise concerns when complaints are not attended to, investigations are delayed or proper feedback is not provided.

OUR POSITION

We are not asking SAPS for special treatment.

We are asking for proper service delivery, accountability and consistent enforcement of the law.

Our call for immigration enforcement is specifically for lawful and non-discriminatory enforcement. People should not be targeted simply because they are foreign nationals. Anyone who commits a crime or contravenes South African law should be dealt with according to the law, regardless of nationality.

OUR DEMAND

We call on the SAPS Ennerdale Station Commander and relevant SAPS leadership to meet with the community, receive this petition and provide a formal response outlining the steps that will be taken to improve policing services in our area.
