More voices, officials call for EIS - as Tweed machine lurches on

Our elected leaders hear us - and have begun to join our call for an EIS. Last week Mayor Carfora of East Haven and now this week State Senator Christine Cohen each wrote their own letter to the FAA demanding an EIS.
Tweed Airport continues to muscle its way ahead, with little regard for concerns expressed by residents. This week New Haven's City Plan Commission approved- but scaled down- their new parking lot – a "temporary solution" to pave airport territory wetlands in a FEMA flood zone. Tweed has been directing fliers to park on the same wetland flood zone (photo) -- unable already to manage their initial growth.
Where is the oversight of this operation? What lies ahead if Tweed's plans are approved without scrutiny? Control over the airport now rests with New Haven politicians who defer to the Tweed Airport Authority and its powerful backers.
Ensuring a thorough federal review is urgent. We need more signatures on our petition. YOU can help us. Please SIGN and SHARE!
