I am embarking on this fight on behalf of my best friend who found herself on the brink of a life-threatening decision, a victim of relentless online bullying through a media gaming platform known as Zepeto. Her dignity and love for an app was ruined, and her personal life is now filled with fear and uncertainty. She has been a victim of being sexualized with her irl face on ai porn and post on the zepeto platform, she was subjected to pitiless slandering, mass reporting, and encouraged to take her own life.

Zepeto, an app targeted at users 12 and older, harbors a highly toxic environment, wherein children are stalked, slandered, manipulated, and gaslit. They live in constant fear, too scared to speak up against their harassers. Despite numerous reports, Zepeto has largely remained unresponsive, failing to uphold the safety policies they themselves have set.

This is no isolated issue. The intensity of the harmful effects of cyberbullying on mental health is well documented, with victims being at a far higher risk for depression, lack of safety, severe anxiety, and suicide (National Institute of Mental Health, 2020). 

Zepeto must be held accountable for ignoring the reports and emails demanding immediate action against these cruel actions which directly compromise the mental and physical safety of their users. Their negligence and absence of proper enforcement of their own governing rules violate their obligation, not only as an application, but also as a protector of a community who, for the most part, are minors.

There was already a loss in the community due to relentless bullying and no matter how many reports were sent they were denied every single time. 

We must stand up today for individuals like my best friend and the countless others who have been subjected to such heinous acts on this platform.
