X professes to be a platform for free speech and expression. But for years—and especially over the last few months—it has censored countless accounts simply because they express pro-Palestine views. I am one of these account holders. 

I am a professor of international law who has been sharing informative and educational tweets about Palestine on X since the fall of 2023. After 11 years of using X without incident, my account (@MsJamshidi) was abruptly and permanently suspended on July 24, 2024. I have been provided with no explanation or justification for my suspension. Nor have I ever violated any of X's rules.

This is a clear act of censorship in retaliation for my expert commentary on Gaza and the rights of Palestinians under international law. Like so many others who have been suspended, deactivated, and shadow-banned on X, I am being silenced because I dare to speak out in support of the humanity of the Palestinian people. 

These practices violate our collective right to express and share our views about an issue of great public importance. If X is, indeed, committed to the free speech values it espouses, it is crucial for it to serve as a fair and balanced platform that does not engage in political or racial favoritism and bias and adhere to a transparent and fair process for allowing individuals to appeal their suspensions and restore their accounts. 

I am asking for your support in urging X not only to reinstate my account (MsJamshidi) but to end its censorship practices with respect to pro-Palestine accounts and implement just, fair, and transparent procedures to support individuals who have had their accounts suspended erroneously.
