Demand Worcester Regulatory Services Return Unlawfully Rehomed Pet/ find rehoming centre
The Issue
My beloved female dog ran away from home a few months ago. Despite an exhaustive search lasting three months, we had no leads on her whereabouts. Shockingly, we recently discovered that Worcester Regulatory Services found our family pet and proceeded to rehome her without our permission. Even more distressing is the fact that our dog’s microchip is updated and provides all necessary contact information. Yet, Worcestershire Council signed over her ownership without any attempt to make contact with us.
Contacting the original owner before rehoming an animal, especially when all relevant details are provided, is a fundamental duty of any rescue or regulatory body. The failure to do so in our case by Worcestershire Regulatory Services is disheartening and concerning. In the UK, hundreds of pets are rehomed without contacting the original owner, as there are no mandatory regulations requiring agencies to use registered microchip information to attempt to contact the owner before rehoming.
Our dog is more than a pet; she's a cherished member of our family, and we miss her dearly. Moreover, her sudden and unauthorized 'relocation' sets a worrying example for future incidents of lost, then found pets. For this reason, we are calling for the immediate return of our beloved dog by Worcester Regulatory Services and Worcestershire Council, and we request reforms in pet rescue and rehoming practices. We require your signature in support. By signing this petition, you are not just helping bring one dog home; you're pushing for change that could protect countless pets and their owners in the future. Please sign to support us.
