Demand Weekly Black Bin Collection from Basildon Council

Demand Weekly Black Bin Collection from Basildon Council
The Issue
Our bins are overflowing and infested with maggots after just one week. Can you imagine the state of them after two weeks? We're only allowed one small bin, which is insufficient to hold two weeks' worth of rubbish. This is a health hazard and an environmental concern for our community in Basildon.
Basildon Council currently collects black bins fortnightly, but this schedule is inadequate for our needs. The accumulation of waste over two weeks not only attracts pests but also poses a significant risk to public health due to potential disease transmission from the accumulated waste.
According to the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), food waste alone accounts for 70% of all bin contents in the UK, which can quickly become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria and insects if left uncollected over an extended period.
We urge Basildon Council to reconsider their collection schedule and implement weekly black bin collections starting from November. This change will significantly improve sanitation conditions in our community and reduce potential health risks associated with prolonged waste accumulation.
Please sign this petition if you believe in maintaining cleanliness and promoting better public health standards within our community.
