Demand WCPS to Stop Using Amplify for Science and ELA
The Issue
I am a student at a Washington County Public School (WCPS), and my experience with the Amplify program for Science and English Language Arts (ELA) has been far from satisfactory. It's boring, unengaging, and often makes no sense. This is not just my personal sentiment but reflects the feelings of many of my peers as well.
Amplify, despite its promises of interactive learning, fails to deliver on these claims in our classrooms. Instead of fostering an engaging learning environment, it often leads to confusion among students due to its complex interface and lackluster content.
Moreover, studies have shown that traditional teaching methods are more effective than digital ones in certain cases. According to research by the National Education Policy Center at the University of Colorado Boulder, students perform better academically when they are taught using traditional methods compared to solely relying on digital platforms like Amplify.
We believe that WCPS should prioritize quality education over convenience or cost-effectiveness. We urge them to reconsider their decision and stop using Amplify for Science and ELA classes in favor of more effective teaching strategies that truly engage students in their learning process.
Please sign this petition if you agree that WCPS should make this change for the betterment of our education system.
