Demand Wage Transparency for Arts & Cultural Workers in NYC

Dear New York Foundation for the Arts,

We, the undersigned, are writing to demand that it is made mandatory for all classified job listings to have salaries and wages posted.

As the premier source for all art related jobs in New York City, we see it as NYFA’s duty to set ethical standards in hiring practices.

Art related work is historically known to be underpaid, many times entirely unpaid in the form of internships in exchange for experience, exposure, passion, and “school credit” (in which students both provide unpaid work hours and pay school tuition).

It is time for NYFA to make a move in fostering equitable hiring practices in the arts.
