The dogs reside in an appalling environment without air-conditioning, stacked in cages without any bedding. The absence of proper sanitation leads to unspeakable conditions where feces and urine accumulate, creating a breeding ground for disease and suffering.

The most haunting image is of dogs being housed in cages piled on top of one another. When the unfortunate dog in the top cage relieves itself, its waste cascades onto the dog below, trapping these innocent creatures in a cycle of filth. This is not just a matter of animal welfare; it is an urgent call for humane treatment and comprehensive care that these vulnerable animals desperately need.

Animal services in Volusia County must immediately inspect and regulate Riley’s Pet Rescue to enforce the legal standards of animal care and welfare. This includes ensuring that all animals have access to clean and comfortable living conditions, adequate food and water, regular veterinary care, and enough space to move freely.
